Dark Chocolate Dipped Mandarin With Hauraki Sea Salt Sprinkles

Citrus season is well and truly here so these are very timely. Mandarin segments dipped in dark chocolate and sprinkled with a little sea salt. Its a sweet, juicy, salty little slice of heaven. So simple I can’t really call it a recipe, its just an arrangement of ingredients put together in harmony - yum!


4-5 mandarin oranges

1/2 cup dark chocolate melting buttons

Hauraki Flake Sea Salt


Line a baking sheet with wax paper and set aside.

Peel mandarins and split into segments. Take some time to remove as much rind as you can.

In a microwave safe bowl heat up the chocolate buttons for about a minute. Repeat heating at 30 second intervals, stirring until melted. Ensure you don’t over cook your chocolate.

Dip the mandarin segments half way into the chocolate. A small diameter container may help if you are having trouble with your dipping depth. Place segments onto your wax paper and sprinkle with sea salt before chocolate hardens.

Refrigerate for 5 minutes till chocolate hardens and enjoy!

Add a little coffee or chilli powder to the chocolate for an extra kick.

Store in an air tight container for up to a few days. Mine disappear rather quickly.
